Abstract

In September 1935, Dr R. Pulkrábek, President, and R. Barta, Secretary of the Czechoslovakian Ceramic Society, wrote to Mellor informing him that he had been elected an honorary member. To enhance this honour, the Czechoslovakian Ceramic Society sent through a box of ceramics as a gift, and yet even like today, border control contacted Mrs Mellor asking her to verify that the said ceramics were gifts. There was prior contact. In his own inimitable way, Mellor captured a Ceramic Society visit in 1927. Pipe-smoking Mellor can be spotted in the centre, being pulled along in a two-wheeled cart. His favourite ‘Worcester Sauce’ is again evident.
