Hocken Periodical Uni Ota Cal 1877
Dunedin: Mills, Dick & Co.
This publication of 1877 may be the first Calendar issued by the University of Otago. It not only outlines the components of the University: a Faculty of Arts, a School of Medicine, and a School of Law, but also regulations concerning matriculation. There is also mention of the formation of a School of Mines, and the fact that the library, founded mainly by public subscription, already contained 4,000 books. Two courses were available to students: literary or scientific. Here is the suggested three-year course for each.
