Fashion enables an individual to participate in social groups and classes through apparel selection (Niimimaki, 2010). Slim Aarons (George Allen Aarons, 1916–2006) made a career of ‘photographing attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places’. He became part of an emerging movement that merged fashion and individual persona in a visual display of the ‘person’.
