Until his death in 2012, Hal Salive collected virtually every issue of the Astounding/Analog magazine, which first appeared in January 1930. Salive’s collection starts with the March 1930 issue and runs right through to September 2012. While the magazine has had variant names and format changes, it still holds the record for being the longest-running continually published SF magazine around. Not only did SF writers like Isaac Asimov become famous from providing stories to the magazine, but many artists owe their success to the publication. The cover artwork for this December 1959 issue is by Henry Richard van Dongen.
