Abstract

This book is just one of the texts probably used by early students in the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy at Otago. A pharmacopeia is a book containing directions for the identification of samples and the preparation of compound medicines. Martindale: The Extra Pharmacopeia was first published in 1883 and is used throughout the world. The current edition, now called Martindale: The Complete Drug Reference, contains details of over 6,000 medicines.
