This female ‘Maccaroni’ is attending an event at the Pantheon in Oxford Street, London, probably in the 1770s. The caricatured image highlights the penchant for ‘pounds of fictitious hair’ piled atop the head loaded with fripperies, feathers, and even herbs. This lady’s head-dress is on fire as the feathers have come too close to the candles hanging from the ceiling. The maid servant on the right is trying to extinguish the flames.
