Abstract

This book is dedicated to ‘Our school doctor who has succeeded in creating a demand among parents for healthier clothing for their children, and to the four head mistresses whose pioneering spirit and ready enthusiasm has made the scheme of this book possible’. This publication is constructed with a substantial pocket in the front cover containing dress patterns of tissue paper marked with style, age and size. The rest of the book offers instructions for making outfits, illustrated by line drawings and a few delightful colour plates. Included is a pattern of what became the gym frock - the epitome of healthy school wear for girls for nearly a century.
