The model in this photograph wears a sheath dress and matching coat in a dark grey silk material printed with a geranium design. On the back of the photograph there is written in pencil, possibly by Bowbyes, that the outfit ‘drew a great deal of applause’ when it was presented for the Balmain 1956 Spring collection.
