Abstract
This entry from one of Truby King’s notebooks, written in his wife Bella's hand, shows the page for Thomas Mutu Ellison. Although a ‘big’ and ‘strong’ baby at birth, Thomas suffered from diarrhoea and vomiting at three weeks old. This may have been the illness that prompted Truby King to take him to his Karitane home to make him well.
