Abstract

In March 2015, David Ellison, the son of Thomas Mutu Ellison, thought to be the 'first Plunket baby', was present at the rededication of the Sir Frederic Truby King plaque located in Karitane. During the rededication ceremony, David blessed the plaque and said ‘Without [Sir Truby] I wouldn’t be here’. David Ellison is a prominent member of the Karitane community and is kaumatua and upoko (chief) on the Puketeraki marae there.
