Abstract

In his inimitable style Gill claims in the preface to Beauty looks after Herself: ‘It has been said that I am one of those writers who can only keep to the point by returning to it.’ Gill’s essays – ‘some appearing in an unpopular periodical now defunct’ – cover his hobby-horses of industrialism, modern architecture, lettering, clothes and stone-carving.
