Abstract

Trained as an artist at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, Charles Schneeman (1912-72) is more famous for his pen-and-ink interior art than his cover work. Vincent di Fate, in Infinite Worlds, describes this cover by Schneeman as ‘compelling’ and ‘well-executed’. Harl Vincent’s story, Neutral Vessel, which the above artwork illustrates, was one of about 70 SF stories that Vincent wrote. An engineer by trade, he was a prolific writer in the early years of SF magazine publishing.
