Abstract
The SF and Fantasy genre had its beginnings in the 19th century with the emergence of writers such as Jules Verne, H. G. Wells and Edgar Allan Poe. Book cover art started appearing in the early 20th century. It is true ‘Sex Sells’ and SF and Fantasy book art is saturated with images of scantily-clad gorgeous women and sculpturally-muscled, strong-jawed men. Wayne Douglas Barlowe created the artwork for this cover.
