Abstract

Joseph Mellor was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society on 5 May 1927. The Royal Society is a Fellowship of the world’s most eminent scientists and is the oldest scientific academy in continuous existence. This election notice was sent to Mellor notifying him of his election and asking him to come to a meeting to be admitted to the Society. A handwritten note in the corner shows that Mellor sent a cheque of £85 which is the admission fee to the Society and a Life Composition.
