Abstract
Most private press operators are not bookbinders, so when all the hand-printing is done, they either outsource the job to professional binders, or decide to make do, producing their own bindings. The latter option is certainly cheaper, and the end result varies immensely, dependent on the sewing and binding skills of the press owner. Alan Loney likes to keep his work elegantly simple. Here he has used ochre-coloured paper wrappers for the binding and printed the title and heart image (repeated within the text) on it. The gathering of the text and cover are held together by yellow cord stabbed through the spine three times and tied on the outside.
