Bones of a whale of which there are many in the neighbourhood. Sumner may at no distant future period be the watering place of our settlement. Wakefield says “Lyttelton & Christchurch will be made towns but Sumner will make itself” & I am disposed to think so too from the great beauty of the scenery around. Wm Holmes. T.M.H.
