Description
Thomson's bridge was swept away by the derelict Beaumont bridge when it floated down the river in the disastrous flooding of the Clutha in 1878.
Lower left (l.l.) with brush: J.T. Thomson 1870; u.r. in pencil: 9; on mount with brush: Balclutha Bridge 1867; on mount in pencil in donor’s hand: Opened 14 Oct 1868, James Macandrew. Destroyed when Beaumont Bridge came down in 1878 flood.
