Abstract
After retiring from the University of Otago Library Bindery in 1997, local bookbinder Bryan Kershaw continued to bind books in his workshop at home. This book is his entry for the Association of Book Crafts Bookbinding competition in 2002, a copy of C. K. Stead’s Kin of Place which Kershaw subsequently donated to Special Collections. The volume is fully bound in natural hair calf skin with smooth dark brown calf skin on the board edges and turn-ins. It has red endbands and the patch title (a separate piece of material) is blocked in gold on dark brown buckram.
