An article in the New Zealand Gazette dated June 12, 1841 on page 3, column 1 reads:
'A plan of the harbour is now on sale at our Office, price two shillings and sixpence. It is very neatly lithographed, and does its authors, Messrs Jones and Bluett, great credit...Mr. Jones and Mr. Bluett have since lithographed a plan of Wades town, and a view of the harbour from the Tinakori hill...'
Margin below image in pencil: 1839; on label in ink in Dr Hocken’s hand: This & the “Chart of Port Nicholson, New Zealand” is the first lithographic work done in N.Z. Captain William Mein Smith, the NZ Co’s principal surveyor, drew them in 1839-40. T.M. Hocken.
