Abstract

As technologies have developed, a wide variety of processes have become available for modern day bookmakers to utilise in the construction of frontispieces, which by the 20th century, were fully established as being on the left. In keeping with the times of Mickey Spillane’s tale, San Francisco-based printer Peter Rutledge Koch utilised original photographs created by Karen Filter in the 1980s. The images were then printed using a colour technique based on Technicolor prints of the 1950s. The tonal quality of the image certainly conveys the right mood.
